Fatal Burke shooting death of Morgan McRae – Obituary
The Angelina County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is investigating a tragic shooting in Burke that claimed the lives of two individuals early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 12:02 a.m., law enforcement received reports of gunfire at a residence. Responding to the scene were deputies from Angelina County, Lufkin and Diboll police, DPS highway patrol, and EMS personnel.
Upon arrival, authorities detained an unidentified juvenile. They discovered Morgan McRae, 39, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds, and Hannah Griffin, 31, also suffering from gunshot injuries. Griffin was transported to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Sheriff Tom Selman stated that a search warrant was executed at the home, where the weapon used in the shooting was recovered. Additionally, it was revealed that other children were present during the incident.
The detained juvenile has been placed in the Angelina County Juvenile Detention Facility and faces charges of capital murder. The ACSO is continuing to investigate the shooting, and a motive has yet to be determined.
