A 19-year-old from Streamwood, identified as Malachi N. Johnson, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident on Tuesday evening in the northwest suburbs. Authorities initially suspected that the shooting stemmed from road rage. Additionally, a woman was wounded in the altercation.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim has been confirmed as Malachi N. Johnson.
The Schiller Park police reported that the individual who shot Johnson was legally licensed, holding both a FOID and a concealed-carry license. The police assert that this individual fired in self-defense.
After reviewing the evidence, including interviews with witnesses and those involved, the State’s Attorney’s Office and Schiller Park police determined that no charges would be filed against the shooter.
The incident took place on the 10000 block of Irving Park Road around 5:30 p.m., where officers arrived to find two vehicles.
One of these vehicles contained two gunshot victims. Johnson, who was driving a Nissan Sentra, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his female passenger sustained injuries.
She was initially reported to be in stable condition but was later discharged from the hospital following treatment.
Furthermore, police discovered five additional individuals inside a Chevy Traverse, including a man, a woman, and three younger individuals.
