Robert Price tragically lost his life in a house fire on Oval Road North in Dagenham, which occurred around 5:40 PM on July 27.
Firefighters who responded to the emergency forced entry into the property, where Mr. Price’s body was discovered. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Metropolitan Police.
A post-mortem examination conducted on Monday revealed that the cause of death was inhalation of smoke and burns. Mr. Price’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specialist officers. They have requested privacy during this difficult time.
The fire’s origin is still under investigation and is currently being treated as suspicious. On Tuesday, a 17-year-old boy was charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life.
He appeared in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court the following day and has been remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.
Another individual arrested in connection with the fire has been released on bail while further investigations continue.
