An investigation began over the weekend by the Howard County Police Department after Toni Williams, a resident of Columbia, was involved in a severe car accident early on August 2.
According to investigators, Williams was driving a 2013 Ford Explorer when she collided with a guardrail on the westbound lanes of Route 32 at approximately 2:20 a.m. She then crossed over three lanes of traffic and crashed into a concrete barrier on the other side of the road.
Moments later, a 2023 Honda HR-V, also traveling west, collided with the stationary Ford Explorer. Williams was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver and a passenger in the Honda were unharmed.
Following the accident, Route 32 was closed for several hours between I-95 and Howard County but was reopened in time for the morning rush hour. The investigation into the fatal crash is still ongoing.
