Fatal Bulleen truck crash death of Yen Ngyuyen – Obituary
Bakery owner Yen Ngyuyen, a 53-year-old mother of three described as “sweet,” has been identified as the victim in a tragic truck accident in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
The collision occurred around 5:40 a.m. Monday when Ngyuyen’s van was struck by a food delivery truck at the Bulleen intersection.
Ngyuyen was traveling along Bulleen Road and entered the Manningham Road intersection on a green light when the truck, coming from the opposite direction, hit her vehicle. Her best friend, who was in the passenger seat, sustained severe injuries.
A witness managed to rescue the 63-year-old from the wreckage and provided assistance until paramedics arrived. She remains in critical condition at the hospital.
The 28-year-old truck driver from Wollert also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was admitted to the hospital.
Police suspect that the truck driver may have run a red light, contributing to the crash.
They are investigating all possible factors, including the role of speed and any potential impairment from drugs or alcohol, according to Detective Sergeant Stephen Hill.
