Aaron Jones, a 26-year-old resident of Mattoon, tragically lost his life in a crash early Monday morning in Moultrie County. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:27 a.m., as confirmed by the Moultrie County Coroner.
The incident occurred on Illinois Route 121 at County Road 1150N in Sullivan, where Illinois State Police troopers responded just before 2:30 a.m. The collision involved a head-on crash between a Ford pickup truck and a Ford sedan.
The other driver involved in the accident sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
In a statement posted on Facebook, First Christian Church of Sullivan shared that Aaron Jones was a band teacher, highlighting the community’s loss.
