Hoa Huynh, a 66-year-old resident of Rockford, tragically succumbed to her injuries following a hit-and-run accident early Monday morning. According to Rockford Police, the incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. when a vehicle struck Huynh as she was walking near East State Street and Easton Parkway. She was pronounced dead at 2:37 a.m.
The Winnebago County Coroner confirmed that Huynh’s death resulted from blunt force trauma to her head and chest, as determined by autopsy results.
Police managed to reopen the affected area to regular traffic flow about three hours after the incident. However, no details regarding the suspect’s vehicle have been disclosed, and no arrests have been made at this time.
