Fatal Oklahoma City shooting death of Brandon Lena – Obituary
The Oklahoma City Police have released the name of the individual who was killed in a police-involved shooting on Friday.
Authorities were called to a neighborhood near Southeast 74th and Sooner Road, where a man, later identified as 47-year-old Brandon Lena, was reportedly threatening suicide and brandishing a gun.
According to reports, Lena had made statements about wanting to die by suicide by police. Officers encountered Lena in the street with a firearm and attempted to defuse the situation with non-lethal approaches for nearly an hour.
Despite their efforts, Lena did not comply with police instructions. At approximately 4:10 a.m., he aimed his weapon at the officers, prompting them to fire. Lena was declared deceased at the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
Officers James Doran, Joshua Geerde, and Joshua Geerdes have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.
