Fatal Bakersfield car crash death of Ceyontay Bell – Obituary
Ceyontay Bell, a 24-year-old from Bakersfield, was among three men who lost their lives Monday afternoon when their vehicle veered off the 5 Freeway, north of Castaic.
The incident occurred around 4:29 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway, just south of Templin Highway, as reported by Officer Josh Greengard from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Newhall.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a 2001 Toyota Avalon, driven by Bell, with four occupants in total. Preliminary findings suggest that Bell was traveling at a high speed when he made an unsafe maneuver, causing the car to hit an ascending dirt embankment.
This collision sent the vehicle airborne before it eventually settled approximately 50 feet down the embankment.
The two right lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway were closed for about six hours to facilitate the investigation. Besides Bell, the vehicle contained three other men from Bakersfield, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old.
Two of these men died at the scene, while the third was rushed to Henry Mayo Hospital in critical condition. As of Tuesday, his condition remains undisclosed.
The identities of the other two men who died alongside Bell have not been released to the public.
