An ongoing investigation is focusing on what led to an SUV plunging down an embankment on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic, resulting in the deaths of three men and leaving a fourth man in critical condition.
The accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Monday near Templin Highway. The victims were discovered inside a black Nissan Armada, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Sean Lough.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed the deaths of the three men at the scene. On Tuesday, the county Department of Medical Examiner identified one of the deceased as 24-year-old Ceyontay Davo Bell.
A fourth individual was transported to a hospital by paramedics and is reported to be in critical condition.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert, shutting down all southbound lanes of the freeway near the crash site for several hours as they investigated the incident.
