Fatal Shandon crash death of Francisco Polinasainz – Obituary
Francisco Polinasainz, a 27-year-old resident of Reedley, has been identified as one of the victims of a devastating wrong-way crash on Highway 46 near Shandon.
The incident, which occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday night, involved a head-on collision and resulted in Polinasainz’s untimely death.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash was caused by 30-year-old Saundra Foutz from Paso Robles driving in the wrong direction in a 2021 Mercedes.
Polinasainz was a passenger in a 2022 Honda that was struck by Foutz’s vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries.
Along with Polinasainz, 24-year-old Rosalinda Bucio and 32-year-old Yvette Guzman also perished in the crash. Two others, including Foutz and 28-year-old Carlos Quinonez, were seriously injured and taken to nearby hospitals.
The driver of a third car involved, 38-year-old Jess Lopez of Bakersfield, sustained only minor injuries.
The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
