Fatal Rapides Parish crash death of Warren Eugene Wood – Obituary
On Wednesday, August 7, a tragic accident on La. 12 resulted in the death of Warren Eugene Wood, 59, from Elmer. According to Louisiana State Police, the collision occurred around 1 mile west of the DeQuincy city limits shortly after 3 p.m.
Wood was driving a dump truck westbound when the vehicle veered off the road to the right, overcorrected, and crossed to the left side of the road. The truck then overturned onto its left side, slid into a wooded area, struck multiple trees, and ignited. Wood was pronounced dead at the scene.
Given the severity of the accident, authorities were unable to determine if Wood was wearing a seatbelt. Toxicology samples have been collected for further analysis.
