On Tuesday evening at 7:15 p.m., Ronald Laird, a 64-year-old from Nashville, lost his life in a tragic collision at the intersection of Jocelyn Hollow Road and Robin Hill Road.
The initial investigation reveals that Laird, who was riding north on Robin Hill Road, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the passenger side of a Kia Optima traveling east on Jocelyn Hollow Road.
Notably, Jocelyn Hollow Road does not have a stop sign, whereas Robin Hill Road does. Despite wearing a helmet, Laird was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses noted that the driver of the Kia Optima was traveling at the posted speed limit of 25 mph. Additionally, Laird was part of a group of four cyclists; all the others had successfully navigated through the stop sign before the collision, with Laird being the last to attempt crossing the intersection.
