Roby Roel dies in fatal San Diego County motorcycle crash Fatal San Diego County motorcycle crash death of Roby Roel – Obituary Roby Roel, a 22-year-old man from El Cajon, lost his life Sunday night in a motorcycle accident in the La Mesa area of San Diego County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on May 11, when Roel was riding a Ducati motorcycle northbound on Avocado Boulevard. As he approached the intersection with Explorer Road, a Ford Explorer heading south made a turn onto Explorer Road and collided head-on with Roel’s motorcycle. Roel was ejected from his bike and died at the scene. His 20-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment. The 40-year-old driver of the Ford Explorer, a man from La Mesa, was treated for minor injuries. Both he and the injured passenger were taken to the hospital for further care. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash, including whether impairment may have played a role.
