Boston police have confirmed the identity of the young man who was fatally shot Thursday night in the Mattapan neighborhood.
Authorities responded at approximately 10:30 p.m. to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Morton and West Selden streets. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle that had collided with a light pole before reversing onto the intersection, coming to a stop.
It remains unclear whether the victim was shot before or after the vehicle’s erratic movements.
Leroy S. Ryner, 18, of Roxbury, was transported to Boston Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
