Surveillance footage captured Sutton meeting with at least two males in a strip mall parking lot in the area prior to the shooting. At some point during this encounter, one of the suspects fired at Sutton, who then fled in a maroon Ford F-150 pickup. He lost control of the vehicle and crashed on a bridge just south of Bonnie Court, according to police reports.

 

Following the shooting, the suspects were seen fleeing into the Post Oak Station apartment complex located adjacent to the strip mall. Columbus police are urging residents in the area to review their surveillance footage for any sightings of the suspects before or after the incident. Investigators believe these individuals either live in or frequently visit the Post Oak Station complex.
