Fatal Pacific Coast Highway car crash death of Summer Wheaton – Obituary

A deadly collision took the life of Summer Wheaton, a prominent figure in social media, on the Fourth of July, as confirmed by local authorities.

The 32-year-old influencer was driving a 2019 Mercedes Benz after departing from an event at Nobu, a popular venue, around 10:20pm. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, her vehicle inexplicably veered across the center divider, colliding head-on with a 2020 Cadillac.

Law enforcement officials have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the tragic accident.

Summer Wheaton, known for her extensive following on Instagram, which now restricts access, counted over 102,000 followers. Her personal website, currently offline, highlighted her roles as a startup founder, nonprofit creator, public speaker, and advocate for wellness.

Following the collision, both Wheaton and a passenger in the Cadillac sustained injuries not deemed life-threatening. Tragically, the unidentified driver of the Cadillac succumbed to their injuries at the crash site, authorities reported.

The incident occurred following Wheaton’s departure from the Nobu restaurant, noted ABC7.

The nightclub Bootsy Bellows had been hosting its annual “Red, White and Bootsy” event on the same night, attended by celebrities such as Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, and Mike Tyson, who were clad in all-white attire and enjoying Belvedere Vodka, according to initial reports from the Malibu Times.

Jefferson Wagner, who owns a nearby business, expressed concern over the impact of such events on the local area: “What I’ve seen is alarming and disappointing for professionals that run such a fine restaurant to not understand that the surrounding area is also affected by their activities,” he told ABC7.

Malibu authorities disclosed that they had denied a permit request from Nobu due to concerns over traffic and safety measures, yet the event proceeded regardless.

The Independent sought comments from the sheriff’s department, as well as representatives of Bootsy Bellows and Nobu, for additional details.

Malibu Mayor Steve Uhring issued a statement in response to the tragedy: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of life resulting from last night’s accident. This heartbreaking incident underscores the importance of the City’s ongoing efforts to address safety on Pacific Coast Highway.”
