A tragic accident in Polk County claimed the life of 39-year-old Alicia Carmona and left three others injured late Friday night, according to local deputies. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that the collision took place at approximately 7:54 p.m. on North Ridge Trail.
The vehicle, traveling at a high speed, veered off the road, breached a guardrail, smashed through a fence, and ultimately collided with a tree. This severe impact ejected one of the passengers from the car, resulting in their death at the scene. The deceased was identified as Alicia Carmona from Jacksonville.
Carmona’s two children, a 15-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were also in the car and sustained injuries from the crash. The driver of the vehicle, Tiffany Alexander West, 36, from Orlando, was taken to a hospital with facial fractures.
Authorities noted that West exhibited signs of impairment. A blood sample was collected for further testing to determine the extent of her impairment, as reported by deputies.
