Fatal Davenport car crash claims life of Alicia Carmona – Obituary
A single-vehicle accident near Davenport on Friday, July 19, 2024, resulted in the death of one individual and left three others injured.
The incident took place around 7:54 p.m. on North Ridge Trail and is currently under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigations.
Initial findings indicate that a 2024 Nissan sedan veered off the road at a 90-degree turn while speeding. The car breached a guardrail, plowed through a fence, and collided with a tree.
One passenger, identified as 39-year-old Alicia Carmona from Jacksonville, was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Alicia Carmona’s two children—a 15-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son—sustained injuries and were transported to a hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
The driver, 36-year-old Tiffany Alexander West of Orlando, suffered facial fractures and was also taken to a hospital.
A THI detective noted signs of impairment in Ms. West, and a blood sample was collected for analysis.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and criminal charges are anticipated.
North Ridge Trail remained closed for approximately five hours as detectives conducted their work at the site.
