The fatal Cherokee County car crash claims the life of Detra Lamontrail Geter – Obituary
The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office has confirmed a second fatality following a two-vehicle collision near Chesnee. The accident occurred on July 28 around 3:45 p.m.
Veronica Carol Proctor, 32, from Lawrenceville, Georgia, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic when she veered over the center lane while heading north on U.S. Highway 211-A near Scruggs Road. Her vehicle collided with another Honda Civic traveling southbound.
Detra Lamontrail Geter, 37, was driving the second Honda Civic. She was transported to Spartanburg Medical Center for her injuries, while her daughter was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital, as confirmed by state troopers.
Tragically, Geter succumbed to her injuries on Thursday afternoon. Proctor was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Sunday. Authorities noted that Proctor was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
