Fatal Box Elder County UTV crash death of Colten Naef – Obituary.
Utah Highway Patrol has identified the man who lost his life after being thrown from his utility vehicle in Box Elder County on Monday, September 23. The victim has been confirmed as 28-year-old Colten Naef, a firefighter from Tremonton. According to a relative’s Facebook post, Naef was described as a “fearless firefighter.”
The crash occurred when Naef was driving a UTV on a dirt road crossing SR-102 into a church parking lot. Simultaneously, a Chevrolet truck towing a flatbed trailer was traveling westbound on SR-102. Authorities reported that Naef did not yield the right of way and collided with the right rear tire of the truck. Naef was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Chevrolet truck jackknifed and came to a stop, blocking the road, but neither the driver nor the passenger of the truck sustained any injuries.
Funeral services for Naef will be held at Rudd Funeral Home in Tremonton on Saturday, September 28, at 2 p.m., with visitation scheduled from 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
