Fatal Hilton Head Island shooting death of Cory McKie, Jr. – Obituary.
A man from Bluffton was taken into custody on Saturday morning following a shooting that resulted in the death of another individual earlier that day on Hilton Head Island. Charles Barron, 25, was apprehended by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office after they responded to reports of gunfire at Fiddlers Cove shortly before 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 25-year-old Cory McKie, Jr. from Bluffton had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Barron now faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime and is currently held at the Beaufort County Detention Center. The investigation is being supported by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
