Michael Pinegar dies in fatal Colorado Springs motorcycle crash
Fatal Colorado Springs motorcycle crash death of Michael Pinegar – Obituary.
The Colorado Springs Police Department has identified 35-year-old Michael Pinegar as the motorcyclist who lost his life in a crash on East Platte Avenue near Knob Hill in early September.
On September 3, officers responded to the intersection of Platte and Don Juan Street just before 8 a.m. following a report of a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Pinegar was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Pinegar was traveling west on E. Platte Ave. when the pickup, heading east, attempted to turn onto Don Juan Street, leading to the crash.
Westbound Platte Avenue was closed for several hours while the Major Crash Team conducted their investigation. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office officially identified Pinegar on September 4. His death marks the 38th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year, an increase compared to the 30 fatalities at the same time in 2023.
