The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot at a liquor store in Rockford. On September 27, emergency personnel responded to the MaxMart located at 922 Kilburn Avenue, where they discovered two victims of gunfire.
Upon arrival, first responders located Randy Johnson, 30, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical assistance and transportation to a local hospital, he was pronounced dead later that night at 10:39 PM.
An autopsy confirmed that Johnson’s cause of death was due to his injuries from the shooting. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing, being handled by both the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office and the Rockford Police Department.
