Fatal Salem County hit-and-run death of Allen Miller Jr. – Obituary
A 23-year-old Bridgeton man, Christopher Poore, has been charged in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of U.S. Navy veteran Allen Miller Jr. in Salem County. The incident took place early in the morning of September 18 on Route 40 in Pittsgrove, where Poore struck 45-year-old Miller, who was from Vineland, and fled the scene.
Miller, a proud graduate of Schalick High School’s class of 1998, served in the U.S. Navy during the War in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2005. At the time of his tragic death, he was employed as a delivery driver for Carl Harz Furniture in Elmer.
After investigating the incident, New Jersey State Police identified Poore as the driver responsible for the crash and arrested him on October 2. He is now facing charges for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and tampering with evidence. Poore was released pending a future court date.
The Salem County community has been left mourning the loss of Miller, remembered as a veteran, father, and friend. Further updates are expected as the case progresses in court.
