In a tragic incident in Fall City, Washington, two parents, Mark and Sarah Humiston, were among five individuals fatally shot in their home early Monday morning. The shooting took place on Lake Alice Road Southeast around 5 a.m., leaving a total of two adults and three juveniles dead. The couple’s 15-year-old son has been identified as the suspect in this horrific crime, although he has not been formally charged due to his juvenile status and lack of prior criminal history.
Mark Humiston, an electrical engineer at Hargis Engineers, was remembered by colleagues as a respected leader and mentor. In a statement, the company expressed its sorrow over the loss of Mark and his family. Sarah Humiston was reportedly a registered nurse, although her nursing license had expired in 2022.
A young girl from the family survived the attack and is currently hospitalized in satisfactory condition. The family of seven was well-known in the community, having homeschooled their children while actively participating in local activities.
Community members gathered to honor the victims, with Pastor Carrie Bland expressing the collective heartbreak felt over the senseless loss.
The 15-year-old suspect, who waived his right to attend his initial court appearance, is being held in secure detention as authorities prepare for a formal charging decision. Prosecutors are currently assessing whether he will be charged as an adult. Another hearing is set for Friday as the investigation continues.
