The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of one of the three victims in a tragic crash that took place on October 14, 2024, near Wasco. Filamer Barayuga Simpliciano, 62, of Delano, was one of the passengers killed in the collision. The crash occurred at the intersection of Scofield Avenue and Elmo Highway around 4:26 p.m. when a 36-year-old Porterville man driving a gray Ram 3500 allegedly ran a stop sign, colliding with a northbound Toyota Camry. The impact resulted in the deaths of Simpliciano and two others in the Toyota, while the Ram driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
