Fatal East Windsor car crash death of Semra Ozkaya – Obituary

Semra Ozkaya, 68, visiting from Izmir, Turkey, lost her life after being struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in East Windsor. She was in the area to spend time with her children, including her son, Engin Ozkaya, 39, who was also injured in the incident.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred on November 7 at approximately 5:38 p.m. at Town Center Plaza on Route 130 North. A 94-year-old man from Monroe, attempting to reverse his car from a parking spot, accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake, causing his vehicle to hit the two pedestrians.

Following the collision, Semra Ozkaya was transported to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries after several days. Engin Ozkaya was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was cited for careless driving and charged with operating a vehicle unsafely, according to East Windsor police.
