Fatal Waukesha drunk driving accident claims the life of Megan Voss – Obituary
Megan Voss, a 17-year-old senior at Waukesha West High School, tragically lost her life following a three-vehicle collision on Monday evening in Waukesha. The crash involved a 19-year-old driver, who was arrested for alleged intoxicated driving and faces potential charges of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
The incident occurred at 7:25 p.m. when the suspect’s vehicle, traveling at high speed, ran a stop sign at the intersection of East Sunset Drive and Guthrie Road, colliding with two other cars. Megan was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after.
Megan was an exemplary student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA and earning high honors. She had been accepted to Grand Canyon University on a scholarship to pursue nursing, with aspirations of becoming a doctor. Her family, friends, and school community have described her as a radiant and kind-hearted individual whose smile and spirit brightened the lives of those around her.
Classmates gathered at her high school parking spot for a memorial on December 31, sharing memories of Megan and mourning her loss. Waukesha West Principal Taheréh DeLeón highlighted Megan’s contributions to various school clubs, including cheerleading, the Random Acts of Kindness Club, and the Bible Club.
Others involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released from the hospital. The Voss family’s dog, Bleu, was also seriously injured but is under care.
The Waukesha Police Major Crash Task Force, with assistance from Wisconsin State Patrol, continues to investigate the crash.
Authorities emphasized the dangers of impaired driving and expressed their commitment to seeking justice for Megan and her family.
