Fatal Independence I-70 car crash death of Crystal Williams – Obituary
A fatal accident on Interstate 70 in Independence, Missouri, on Thursday evening claimed the life of 39-year-old Crystal Williams of Lawrence, Kansas. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near Noland Road when a Ford Focus, traveling westbound, collided with the rear of a semi-truck and trailer that had stopped due to a mechanical issue with another vehicle ahead.
Williams, the driver of the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Both occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
No injuries were reported for the occupants of the semi-truck.
The Independence Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
