Patricia Lord dies in fatal North Chicago car crash
Fatal North Chicago car crash death of Patricia Lord – Obituary
Patricia Lord, an 86-year-old resident of Zion, lost her life in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday afternoon in North Chicago.
Emergency responders from the North Chicago Fire and Police Departments arrived at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Saratoga Street around 2:40 p.m. following reports of a serious crash. A 911 caller had described Lord as barely breathing at the scene.
When officers arrived, they found Lord unresponsive and without a pulse. Paramedics transported her to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was later pronounced dead in the emergency room.
An autopsy performed by the Lake County Coroner’s Office on Thursday determined that Lord succumbed to blunt force trauma affecting her head, neck, and chest.
Authorities confirmed that Lord was the sole occupant of her vehicle. The driver of the second car involved sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team was called in to reconstruct the incident, which appeared to be a t-bone collision. One of the vehicles suffered extensive front-end damage, while the other had severe damage to its passenger side.
Green Bay Road was shut down between Route 137 and 24th Street for several hours but reopened around 6:30 p.m. Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
