Fatal Spokane Valley DUI crash death of Caden Richardson – Obituary
Caden Richardson, a 21-year-old man, tragically lost his life in a single-car crash late Friday night near Shelley Lake in Spokane Valley. According to the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office, Richardson’s cause of death was blunt force trauma, with the incident being classified as an accident.
At approximately 11:15 p.m., Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene after reports of a crash on Rotchford Drive. The car had veered off the road and collided with a fence near South Rotchford Drive and South Galway Lane.
Upon arrival, officers found a Subaru severely damaged and entangled in a chain-link fence. The passenger, Richardson, was critically injured. Deputies immediately attempted to provide medical assistance, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the Subaru was traveling at an estimated 55 to 60 mph in a 25 mph zone when it struck a curb and crashed into the fence. One witness mentioned hearing screeching tires and described how the Subaru had veered into the middle of the road before losing control. The driver of the Subaru was reportedly impaired and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Authorities arrested the driver on suspicion of vehicular homicide after determining that reckless driving while intoxicated contributed to the fatal crash. Once cleared by medical staff, the driver was booked into Spokane County Jail.
