Fatal Island Lake pedestrian crash death of Kristen Koehnke – Obituary
Kristen Koehnke, 41, of Island Lake, tragically passed away after being struck by a vehicle on March 14, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m.
The accident occurred on Route 176, east of Water’s Edge Drive, when a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by a 21-year-old woman from Glenview, collided with Koehnke as she was reportedly in the road.
Koehnke was declared dead at the scene of the crash. The Lake County Coroner’s Office confirmed that her death was a result of the injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has not been charged, with no tickets issued by police.
Route 176 was closed for several hours to allow for investigation, with both Island Lake Police and the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County conducting the inquiry into the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
