William “Bill” Alexander, 54, has been identified as the man who lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Madison Avenue in his electric wheelchair on Tuesday evening.
The Memphis Police Department reported that officers responded to the crash near Idlewild Street at approximately 3:38 p.m. Alexander was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver involved remained at the scene following the collision. Authorities noted that the speed limit in the area is 35 miles per hour.
The incident remains under investigation.
