Fatal Bryant shooting death of Monica Jennings

Monica Jennings, 55, was one of three family members found dead inside a Bryant residence early Sunday morning, as police investigate what they describe as a triple homicide.

 

Authorities arrived at the home on Lena Drive around 7:30 a.m., where they discovered Monica Jennings, her daughter Kayla Mitchell, 32, and her husband or partner Michael Jennings, 63, all deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

 

According to police, the suspect in the case is Monica’s 34-year-old son, Jarrod Mitchell, who was arrested later that day around 3:30 p.m. by Bryant officers and Saline County deputies. He is currently being held on a $2 million bond.

 

Monica was the mother of the accused, and her tragic death alongside her husband and daughter has deeply affected the Bryant community. Authorities are continuing to investigate the motive behind the fatal shootings.
