Fatal Sacramento shooting death of Kevin Roderic – Obituary.
Authorities have identified Kevin Roderic, 26, as one of the victims in a series of shootings linked to sideshow activities that occurred over the weekend. The Sacramento County coroner’s office confirmed Roderic’s identity after he succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting early Sunday morning.
Around 3 a.m., police responded to reports of a sideshow near Kelton Way and Main Avenue. Upon arrival, officers learned that two men had transported themselves to a nearby hospital after being shot. While one man is expected to survive, Roderic did not make it.
In a separate incident, police were called to Seamist Drive near Sandcastle Way around 2 a.m., just five miles south of the Kelton Way shooting. There, they found another man with gunshot wounds. Despite attempts to save him, he died at the scene, and his identity has yet to be disclosed.
Authorities are investigating whether these shootings are connected, but no suspect information has been released for either incident.
Videos from past sideshows indicate that such events occur frequently in the area, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety. Over the weekend, several other violent incidents were reported throughout Sacramento.
In response to these events, Governor Gavin Newsom enacted four new bills aimed at tackling the issues surrounding sideshows, also referred to as street takeovers. The new legislation will enhance police powers to impound vehicles and penalize spectators, while officially recognizing the terms “sideshow” and “street takeover” in California law.
Sideshows, illegal gatherings where drivers recklessly block roads, pose significant risks to both participants and innocent bystanders, as uncontrolled vehicles can injure spectators.
