Authorities have identified a man who was fatally shot early Monday morning in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. Rodney Cooper, aged 52 and from Brooklyn Park, was shot around 3 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Street and 13th Avenue South, as reported by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
Officers discovered Cooper with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt arrival of paramedics and fire rescue, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Minneapolis Police Department stated that additional officers were dispatched to the location due to the presence of an “uncooperative and hostile crowd.”
Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that a gathering had taken place in the area before the gunfire erupted. As of Wednesday, no arrests have been made.
