Fatal Kansas City pedestrian crash death of Yuxi Wu – Obituary
A motorized scooter rider, Yuxi Wu, was struck and killed by a speeding car in Kansas City on Thursday. The accident occurred at 51st and Troost just before noon when a red Ford Focus, traveling northbound at a high speed, collided with Wu, who was crossing the street in an unmarked crosswalk.
The driver of the vehicle stopped and remained at the scene. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, Wu was pronounced dead.
On Friday, University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) confirmed that Wu was a first-semester student pursuing a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance. UMKC expressed deep sorrow over her loss, stating, “We are devastated by this tragic loss, and our hearts go out to her family and loved ones. We are providing counseling services to students, faculty, and staff during this difficult time for our campus community.”
Authorities are investigating the accident, including examining the possibility of driver impairment.
