The incident occurred around 11:21 a.m. on September 28, prompting the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to respond to a report of a shooting at a hotel located on Kelco Place. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a barricaded suspect inside one of the hotel rooms. The suspect eventually surrendered without any further incident.
Tragically, Paul Stanley from Birmingham was discovered at the scene with gunshot wounds. The Jefferson County Coroner Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that he passed away just before noon.
