A tragic incident occurred on Monday morning when a 75-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Utah County. The victim has been identified as Lola Klein Ferkovich, a resident of Saratoga Springs. According to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, the collision took place around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection of Cozy Lane and Floribunda Drive.
Reports indicate that a vehicle traveling east attempted to turn south, striking Ferkovich as she was crossing the street. Emergency responders arrived promptly and performed life-saving measures on the critically injured woman. She was airlifted to a hospital in Murray but succumbed to her injuries later.
The driver, a 44-year-old woman who is also a city employee serving as a crossing guard, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, which has been transferred to the sheriff’s office due to her employment with the city. Sgt. Spencer Cannon from the sheriff’s office expressed the traumatic nature of the incident, highlighting the impact on both the driver and Ferkovich’s family.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident.
