Fatal Monterey County, California crash death of Matthew Giles – Obituary
Matthew Giles, a 32-year-old from Lockwood, tragically lost his life in a rollover crash into the Salinas River on Monday, November 5. The crash occurred around 2:07 p.m. on Monte Road, north of Neponset Road, when a red pickup truck collided with a white international pickup truck. According to the California Highway Patrol, the red pickup was traveling north when it crossed into the southbound lane and crashed into the white pickup.
The red pickup continued northwest, hitting the guardrail before tumbling off the bridge and landing upside down in the Salinas River. The driver of the red pickup, identified as Giles, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash prompted road closures in both directions.
