Fatal Hartford drive-by shooting death of Jessiah Mercado and Messiah Diaz – Obituary
A tragic drive-by shooting in Hartford left two victims dead and one other injured on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Jessiah Mercado, 20, and her 4-month-old son, Messiah Diaz, both of Springfield, Massachusetts, were pronounced dead after being shot while in a vehicle near 380 New Britain Avenue. The shooting occurred around 2:47 p.m. when an unknown vehicle pulled up beside them and opened fire. Mercado and her son were rushed to Hartford Hospital, where they were declared deceased. A third victim, a man in his 20s, was wounded but his injuries were not life-threatening. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Hartford Police Department.
