A tragic incident occurred early Thursday morning, December 12, 2024, when 54-year-old Tyrence Vann was struck by a Greensboro police vehicle. The accident took place around 5:12 a.m. on East Wendover Avenue at Summit Avenue. Vann sustained severe injuries and was later pronounced dead as a result of the crash. In accordance with protocol, the High Point Department has been requested to conduct an independent investigation into the incident. The police officers involved were unharmed and have been placed on administrative duty while the investigation continues.
