Fatal south Charlotte crash death of Jeramie Mitchell Paige – Obituary
Jeramie Mitchell Paige, 41, was struck and killed while riding a bicycle in south Charlotte on Thursday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The incident occurred on East Woodlawn Road near Old Pineville Road. Emergency responders treated Paige at the scene for life-threatening injuries, but he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators reported that Paige was riding his bicycle against traffic and without headlights when he was hit by a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. The driver, identified as 37-year-old Casey Hatley Ruppe, was turning left out of a parking lot when the crash happened.
Authorities determined that Ruppe was impaired at the time of the accident. She was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
