Fatal Grimes County Highway 6 crash death of Robin Conley
Emergency officials dispatched to a serious collision on Highway 6 in Grimes County on Friday afternoon, where a fatality was reported. Five individuals were involved in the incident and suffered injuries.
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that 30-year-old resident Robin Conley from Montgomery was the individual killed in this accident. Her vehicle, a Ford Explorer, contained two young children at the time of the crash. The status of their relationship is not yet known.
According to authorities, the collision occurred shortly after 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 330 and Highway 6, south of FM 2, between the towns of Navasota and Hempstead. Conley was driving south and veered into the northbound lane, striking a Volkswagen Taos head-on.
Medical personnel pronounced Conley deceased at the scene. The two minor passengers, identified as a 2-year-old and a 6-year-old, were transported to Texas Children’s Medical Center in Houston for treatment. The driver of the Volkswagen Taos suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to another hospital in Houston. The remaining occupants of the Taos, a 19-year-old and a 24-year-old, received minor injuries and were taken to a regional medical facility.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is conducting a full investigation into the cause of this tragic event. Travelers were advised to take a detour via FM 2979 if heading north from Hempstead to avoid the affected area and anticipate significant delays.
