CLEVELAND — An individual identified as 34-year-old De’Ante Kidd has passed away following a disturbance on Cleveland’s east side during the early hours of Monday morning. Initial reports suggested a potential standoff situation involving law enforcement.

Cleveland Division of Police received notifications regarding gunfire around 1:02 a.m. Monday in the 10000 block of Parkgate Avenue. Upon their arrival, responding officers discovered a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, medical personnel confirmed the individual’s death at the scene.

The deceased has been officially identified as 34-year-old De’Ante Kidd, despite an earlier incorrect police statement that initially reported his age as 23. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit.

Dispatched to the location following preliminary reports was the Cleveland Division of Police SWAT Unit, responding to indications that the suspect might have taken shelter inside a nearby residence. Following a thorough inspection of the dwelling, the SWAT team confirmed that the alleged suspect was not present at the time.
