The coroner in DuPage County has identified the man who was fatally shot earlier this week in an unincorporated area of Lombard. The deceased has been named as Alaa Ghnimat, who was 38 years old.
According to the DuPage County sheriff’s office, Ghnimat was discovered with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence located at the intersection of 16th Street and Meyers Road. No additional details have been released at this time. Both the public information officer and the sheriff have not responded to phone calls or emails seeking further information.
A person claiming to be Ghnimat’s son reported to television news outlets that he was inside the house when he heard gunshots. He went outside to investigate and found his father. Another source indicated that Ghnimat, originally from Palestine, had been living in the United States for approximately 20 years.
