Eric Pait dies in fatal Harris County shooting
Fatal Harris County shooting death of Eric Pait – Obituary
On Halloween night, 38-year-old Eric Pait was shot and killed in his garage in north Harris County, Texas. This tragic event comes two months after the murder of his estranged wife, Carman Peterson.
The shooting occurred between 10 and 11 p.m. at Pait’s residence on Hawks Nest Drive, near the Greenspoint area. Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots, prompting investigators to respond to the scene. Witnesses described seeing an individual wearing a Michael Myers mask approach Pait before the shooting began.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Sergeant Michael Ritchie stated that they are actively reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to gather evidence regarding the incident. Crime scene investigators remained on site the following day as they sought to piece together the details of the shooting.
Monica Melgar, a nearby resident, recalled hearing several loud gunshots, expressing her shock at the violence in the usually quiet neighborhood.
The tragedy is compounded by the recent death of Pait’s estranged wife, Carman Peterson, who was shot in her sleep in August. Family members believe there may be a connection between the two killings, though authorities have not charged Pait in relation to Peterson’s death. At the time of Pait’s shooting, two of the couple’s children were in the house but were not harmed.
Court records indicate that Peterson filed for divorce from Pait in March of this year. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding either case to reach out to Crime Stoppers or the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.
