A tragic two-vehicle accident in Beavercreek Township resulted in the deaths of two individuals and led to the closure of part of U.S. 35 between Beavercreek and Xenia on Saturday morning. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Xenia Post reported that the driver, 78-year-old Val Vern McLuff, and his passenger, 64-year-old Veronica L. Smith from Superior, Wisconsin, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews were dispatched after receiving reports of a collision involving a semi-truck and a U-Haul truck at approximately 8:43 a.m. on U.S. 35 at the intersection of Trebein and Valley Road. The investigation into the accident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
