Fatal Mobile shooting death of Joseph Evans, Jr. – Obituary
Joseph Evans, Jr., aged 25, was fatally shot Monday night in a double shooting incident at Dauphin Gate Apartments in Mobile. Authorities found Evans’s body between two buildings at the complex, located at 3250 Dauphin Street, around 9:20 p.m.
Mobile Police reported that upon arrival, they discovered Evans deceased and were informed that another gunshot victim had been privately taken to a local hospital. The second individual sustained injuries but is expected to recover.
By Wednesday, investigators had identified and apprehended a suspect, 19-year-old Nyyon Elijah Sanders of Mobile. Sanders, who was previously released on bond in connection with a 2022 homicide, was detained following an early morning search operation near Bankhead Street and Euclid Avenue.
Court documents reveal that Sanders had violated the terms of his release by disabling his ankle monitor and being present in a restricted area at the time of the shooting. Due to these violations, his bond for the previous murder charge has been revoked.
Sanders now faces charges of murder and first-degree robbery and is being held at Mobile Metro Jail.
